Colombia

Colombia is a land of geographical extremes, with the second-highest level of biodiversity in the world. Its territory encompasses Amazon rainforest, highlands, grasslands, and deserts, and it is the only country in South America with coastlines along both Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Colombia's rich cultural heritage reflects influences by various Amerindian civilizations, European settlement, African slaves, and immigration from Europe and the Middle East. The economy is traditionally based on agriculture, particularly coffee and fruit production, but industries and services are increasing in importance. The nation’s political instability has been historically tied to the unequal distribution of wealth, and the illicit trade in drugs (mainly cocaine) remains a major disruptive factor in Colombian life.

Village Goods carries a variety of food products from Colombia, including coffee, dried fruit, and chocolate. You may also find tagua jewelry carved from the nuts of the Ecuadorian Ivory Palm.
