Sandalwood is a beautifully grained, fragrant wood that grows well in Mozambique's coastal climate.

Sergio extracts uniquely Mozambican sculptures from sandalwood, incorporating the rough inner bark of the tree to add individuality to each piece. In his Four Sisters sculpture, Sergio pays tribute to the bond between a family of sisters, carving exotic feminine faces topped with colorful fabric head wraps.
